Chamberí

Starting at the Glorieta de Bilbao and stretching north via the neverending Calle Santa Engracia, the neighborhood of Chamberí is one of the prettiest barrios in Madrid. Homes here are highly sought after by Madrileños keen to stay near the action of the city centre whilst still experiencing the tranquility and community support of one of Madrid’s quintessential Spanish neighborhoods. More than in any other part of the city, it is in Chamberí where you will find the strongest neighbourhood atmosphere – a focus on family and community has ensured that the wide, tree-lined streets and charming plazas are filled with independent shops, green-grocers, cafés and restaurants. The large sports and recreation centre, Green Canal Golf, is located in the north of the district, right next to the Rios Rosas metro station, and is a great place to go to for a run, practice your golf swing or putting skills, or simply relax in its various park and playground areas. The nearby neighbourhoods of Arguelles and Moncloa are situated to the south, and offer vistors some of the best shopping in the city. The beautiful Templo de Debod, an ancient Egyptian temple that was donated in the 1960s as a token of gratitude for Spain’s efforts in preserving important monuments in Egypt, is well worth a visit, especially at sunset. The exclusive and spacious apartments along Paseo del Pintor Rosales are some of the most sought-after in the capital, offering magnificent views of the nearby Parque de Oeste and Casa de Campo. Chamberí has an intimate and friendly nightlife scene, where the focus is on good food, good wine and good company. You can enjoy some excellent traditional Spanish cuisine in one of the many good restaurants in the neighbourhood, proving you do not have to go into the city centre to get a true taste of the Spanish capital.
