GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This impeccably decorated five star property offers its guests the opportunity to reside in the historic building of Madrid’s Plaza Mayor. Constructed in the early 17th century, and restored in 1790, the Plaza is the heart of Austrian Madrid, and perhaps the most beautiful in Spain. This apartment offers the visitor luxury accommodation with three balconies overlooking the square itself and easy access to the city’s principal sights. Within walking distance are the Teatro Real and the Palace, the charming turn of the 20th century market of San Miguel, and, for cafés and dining, the popular Plaza de Santa Ana and Cava Baja. The apartment has been recently refurbished to a standard that reflects the importance of its location, with which its interior blends seamlessly. Original details have been restored and attention has been paid to every detail. This is exemplified by the living room whose four-metre high, hand-painted walls carry the same colour as those of the Plaza. The décor is lavish, from the Melix pine floors, furnishings and fittings by designers such as Philippe Starck, Jacobsen and Kartell and original artwork, to its marble bathrooms and a kitchen fitted with first class appliances. Given the exclusivity of the location, this property offers a unique taste of historic Madrid from a vantage point of considerable luxury. The rental price shown on the website applies for up to 2 people. For up to 4 people there is an additional charge of 25 euros/day.

ACCOMMODATION AND FACILITIES

Surface area: 140 m2. First Floor (no lift). The entrance hall leads into a large living/dining area with three balconies facing onto the Plaza Mayor. It is furnished with a perfect combination of antique and modern furniture; there are two 3-seater sofas, a coffee table, a 26’ LCD television and DVD on one side and a round marble table for 4 people on the other. There is also a separate library with a desk with views over the Plaza Mayor. The glass chairs and lamps are from Kartell. The large corridor, to the left of the entrance, leads to the bedrooms. The master bedroom (queen size bed) with en suite marble bathroom contains a shower (with jets), with Philip Stark fittings and Jacobsen faucets. The bedroom has a dressing room with wood wardrobes and access to a balcony. The second bedroom has two single beds (0.90m x 1.90m), one beneath the other, and a fitted wardrobe. There is a second marble bathroom also with shower jets. The kitchen is fully equipped with Miele modern appliances, including a 6-ring Smeg gas hob, oven, toaster, coffee maker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer and table for breakfast. There is a utility room with ironing facilities. There is melix pine parquet flooring throughout, except for the bathroom and kitchen, which are tiled.
